Cardbox Packaging making strong efforts for sustainable environment
At the end of 2019, together with prominent brand producers and other companies of the paper and packaging market, we joined the new 4evergreen alliance, which promotes the sustainable treatment, use and recycling of paper packaging. Its objectives include raising awareness of the benefits of paper materials, their innovations, developing guidelines for the construction of products suitable for recycling and for the circular economy in line with EU legislation, and supporting the development of collection systems and recycling infrastructure. It will also serve as a forum for all links in the industry chain, from paper and board manufacturers and packaging processors to brand owners and retailers, technology and materials suppliers to waste sorting and collection facilities.
Just a few months later, we can proudly state that we are doing our utmost to meet the alliance’s commitments. Our development team is working on a variety of projects to harness the potential of cardboard material and create a variety of packaging products that are not only great marketing, but also environmentally friendly, which is now almost an essential part of product properties.
All Cardbox Packaging plants were involved in the projects. The topics we are now actively dealing with are the development of plastic-free products, the creation of new carton-based packaging options and the use of alternative materials. Cardbox Packaging is moving strongly in pushing forward its own development of dispersion based barrier coatings, which are 100% recyclable and have an significant better performance in a life cycle assessment. Creating new sustainable opportunities for the food industry makes sense.
